PAMUSHANADedicated ZESA line so no load shedding.  A delightful getaway from it all cottage made of Nyanga field stone and set in a mountain wilderness amongst forests and rolling lawns with awesome views of Zimbabwe's highest mountain... Mt Nyangani.
To go with the wonderful setting the cottage is beautiful.  It consists of three bedrooms, study, lounge, dining room and open plan kitchen two and a half bathrooms.
Both the lounge and dining room have their own log fire place to take the chill off the mountain air  in the evenings and are perfect for snuggling up to with a good book and glass of red wine! There is a music system with CD player.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped for self catering and includes: fridge, freezer, electric stove with oven, microwave oven and gas hot plate in case of power cuts.   Pots and pans, cutlery and crockery are also supplied so all you need bring is food and beverages plus your own towels.

PAMUSHANA1There are two bedrooms downstairs one with a double bed and the other with two single beds whilst the upstairs mezzanine bedroom has a double bed and its own lounge opening onto a balcony looking out onto montane forest, Mt Nyangani, the Nyazengu Falls ridge and the Honde Valley in the distance.   All beds have comfortable mattresses and extra blankets for chilly nights as well as heaters in the downstairs bedrooms.   There is a second “spill over” cottage, Protea Cottage, next door, ideal for kids and extras.
This cottage has a large lounge, open plan kitchen en suite bathroom and two bedrooms with double bed and two singles.

The cottages are serviced daily and firewood and charcoal can be purchased on site.
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway where you do not see another soul then Pamushana Cottage is for you.

The cottage is fully electrified and has a generator for lights in the event of faults but guests are asked to bring their own petrol for the generator and not to use ovens and geysers when on the generator.  PAMUSHANA2There is cell phone signal at the cottage.

There are lovely walks through the forest and along the mountain stream that flows through the private twenty one acre property and guests may catch a glimpse of the rare blue duiker, samango monkey, bush buck or even leopard that inhabit the montane forests.  In addition the cottage is only a few kilometers from the Mutarazi Falls... Africa's second highest waterfall, the Honde View and the Pungwe View with its glorious views of the Pungwe Falls and Gorge.   Access to Turaco Trail.

Apart from these major tourist attractions, Far and Wide, with all its fantastic mountain adventure activities is only four kilometers away.

$50.00 per person per night.  Children Under 12 half price.  Minimum charge per cottage is $130.00 per cottage per night.  Part proceeds to conservation of the Nyanga and Mutarazi Falls National Parks.

Directions: recommended route

From Harare travel towards Rusape.  In Rusape take the Nyanga/Juliasdale turn off and travel towards Juliasdale.  Just before you get in to Juliasdale (about a kilometre before the village) take the Mutare Road to your right and travel for about 11,5km until you reach a dirt road to your left and a sign saying Mutarazi Junior School. Turn left here and travel for about 4km until you reach a Y-junction... keep left and follow the Mutarazi Junior School signs.  Carry on along the dirt road through Chingamwe forest estate for about 6km until you get to the T-junction with the Pungwe Scenic Road.  Turn left and continue for about 2,4km following the Mutarazi Falls signs until you get to the Mutarazi Falls Road turn off.  Turn right.  The turn off to Pamushana Cottage is about 200 meters along the Mutarazi Falls Road on your left.  Turn left and drive through the forest for a kilometre to the cottage.

If coming from the Mutare side then take the Honde Valley Road turn off from the main Mutare/Juliasdale Road...  about the 51 km peg along the Mutare/Juliadale Road just after "Selborne Store".  Travel for 1.7 km until you see the large dirt road to your left.  There is a FAR and WIDE Zimbabwe 19 km sign here  .  Turn left and travel for about 15 km until you get to the Mutarazi Falls Road.  Turn right. The turn off to Pamushana Cottage is about 200 meters along the Mutarazi Falls Road on your left.  Turn left and drive through the forest for a kilometre to the cottage.

The roads are ok, not great but passable.  4x4 is preferable though not essential.

Please note:

We require full payment on booking to secure the reservation.  In the event of a cancellation we will refund 50% of the fee if at least 4 weeks notice is given.

Reservations are held for a 48 hour period.  If payment has not been received after 48 hours the reservation is automatically cancelled and guests must rebook if they are still wanting to travel.

Please note:

Our access roads are not good and there is no signage to each of the cottages.   The supplied map however is very accurate.  We recommend the use of GPS and Tracks4Africa.  We strongly advise guests to use 4x4 vehicles or at least high clearance vehicles with diff lock features.  It is not advisable to travel at night.  Lodge attendants  will wait for guests until 5pm after which time if guests have still not arrived it will be considered a no show.  Activities are available but should be organised beforehand to avoid disappointment.
