About the Lodge

Zenguelemo Lodge is located on the beautiful Bazaruto Island within the Bazaruto Archipelago of Mozambique.

The Lodge is being built in partnership with the community of Zenguelemo - a small subsistence fishing village - as well as Mozambique National Parks. This initiative was formed to help alleviate poverty, take pressure off the environment and provide the local community with alternative means of income.

Set on a beautiful point, the Lodge offers an authentic Mozambique experience. It has 180o panoramic views, crystal clear waters and its own reef.

Apart from this unique attraction Zenguelemo is the closest lodge to Paradise Island and a short twelve minute boat ride on the Islander places you in this spectacular and untouched snorkelling paradise.

There are two different accommodation options: camping (with tents provided), self-catering lodges and a fully catered lodge. With a maximum number of thirty guests you may begin to believe that the Island is all yours.

About the Lodge

After driving through the beautiful Honde Valley and the Eastern Highlands Tea plantations you arrive at what has to be one of the best-kept secrets in the world. Aberfoyle Lodge is situated in a very special part of Zimbabwe. With rolling tea plantations, riparian forests, and the Nyamkombe river surrounding the lodge, you feel as though you are in an oasis of true serenity.

At an altitude of 800 metres, our temperatures are perfect throughout the year. Winter temperatures average around 21 degrees C, so if you are looking at getting away to the Eastern Highlands and are worried about the chill, then Aberfoyle is perfect for you.

Most of our vegetables are organically grown in our vegetable garden. Found just below the lodge, it is open to all guests to have a wonder through, and even taste a few of the vegetables. Our delicious honey comes from local beehives; our organic black pepper comes from our vines, and our coffee and tea are both grown on the estate. Our eggs and chickens are free-range and farmed on the estate. Using these beautiful fresh ingredients our chef is able to come up with some of the most delicious meals that you will ever experience.

Our rooms have just been renovated and are beautifully decorated. Each one is named after a special bird found in the area and is unique in the sense that the colours of the bird make up the colours of the interior decor of that room.

About our Camping

Looking for something a bit more budget-friendly and love camping? We offer three different options to choose from.

Option 1 - Our school cabins are open to guests when there are no schools in camp. These cozy little wooden cabins sleep 10 in each. If there are only two in your party you will have exclusive use of the cabin and so will not be asked to share.

Option 2 - The Mtarazi Falls campsite, a beautiful little campsite nestled in afromontane forests and a mere 600 metres from the Mutarazi Falls SkyWalk and SkyLine is available for camping.

Option 3 - Wild camping on the Turaco Trail at one of our campsites. One of these sites is situated 2 km from Far and Wide HQ. With unbelievable views of the Honde Valley and Mt Nyangani this campsite is breathtaking.

Amenities:

Both options 1 and 2 have wood boilers providing hot water.

Showers and toilets are available at both option 1 and 2.
There are no cooking facilities at either so you will need to bring your own.

Although most of our wild campsites are situated on a beautiful mountain river, some of them are a little distance from the river. But there is access to clean water and a shower under a beautiful waterfall fairly close by.
