Far and Wide Zimbabwe provides a variety of products including team building, leadership, and life skills programmes for school children. Our courses are aimed at developing each child in a unique way by offering them unparalleled adventure experiences. Through our courses, they will learn to conquer their fears, breakthrough perceived limitations, develop servant leadership qualities, and be a team player.

The FAR and WIDE Outdoor Education Centre consists of 6 wooden cabins and 72 beds overlooking stunning montane forests of the Mutarazi Falls National Park. The centre offers communal dining, a team building center and ablutions.

School programmes are also conducted at Aberfoyle Lodge in the Honde valley which offers a dormitory with 32 beds, ablutions and a communal dinning area.

Our Far and Wide team is fully committed to providing each child with an incredible adventure experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

JUNIOR SCHOOLS

ABC School - Conservation Course (Grade 4/5)

Duration : Four nights Monday to Friday

This exciting journey into the world of nature provides participants with a once in a lifetime experience. The setting for the course is Aberfoyle Lodge with its, immaculately nurtured tea fields, wild rivers and waterfalls and wondrous riparian forests filled with birds and bees, butterflies and trees. Participants will visit mini hydroelectricity plants and tea factories and learn how tea is made by following the process from harvesting tea in the field to how to make the perfect cup, as well as learn about soil, plants, frogs, birds and bees.

Venturer (Grade 6/7)

Duration : Five nights Sunday to Friday

This dynamic fun filled programme is designed to tap into the enthusiasm of our younger clients whilst instilling in them a love of healthy outdoor pursuits, nature and other people. It is very much a growth experience and ideally suited to teaching team and leadership skills. Participants undertake adventurous training activities such as river bugging, ropes courses, giant swing, orienteering, team and leadership games, and overnight wilderness hiking expeditions as wells visits to Africa’s second highest waterfall, the Mutarazi Falls, Pungwe View and Honde View.

Venturer Leadership (Upper 6)

Duration : Five nights Sunday to Friday

As a follow on to the Venturer course this leadership training programme is designed to teach young leaders effective leadership skills through several imaginative and challenging adventure activities. This programme can be run from our Aberfoyle Lodge in the Honde Valley... a different venue.

SENIOR SCHOOLS

Team builder (Form 1)

Duration : Five nights Sunday to Friday

Wilderness (Form 2/3)

Duration : Five nights Sunday to Friday

As our youth take on the challenges of this outstanding wilderness experience they are carefully guided by our compassionate and professional staff into reflecting on their experiences and how they can apply the learning to their lives as they take on the challenge of becoming young adults.

Wilderness Leadership (Form 4, Lower and Upper 6)

Duration : Six nights Sunday to Saturday

This is our flagship programme. This is a 7 day intensive team and leadership training programme is taking schools by storm. This centre and expedition based programme revolves around a hiking experience on the famous Turaco Trail... Zimbabwe's iconic hiking trail. It also involves participants in a variety of outdoor adventure pursuits each carefully designed to lead them to a greater awareness of what makes for effective leadership and team work. Apart from learning new skills the programme works to create strong bonds across the year group.

Prefects/Stewards Team builder (Upper 6)

Duration Five nights Sunday to Friday

This programme is run from our Aberfoyle Lodge in the Honde Valley. It is a follow on to the Wilderness Leadership programme and is designed to be a short intensive team building and leadership development programme that provides prefect teams with a springboard from which to launch into their year as leaders. It involves expeditions, team and leadership workshops and white water rafting on the Pungwe River.

Sports Team Team builder

Duration : Five to seven nights

In preparation for the season many teams find great benefit in undertaking a team building programme to prepare mentally and physically for the challenges ahead. This programme acts as a springboard from which team launch into the season. It involves series of fun, challenging and educational outdoor adventure activities such as white water rafting, abseiling and rock climbing, orienteering and expeditions as well as fitness training in the mountains.

Captains Course

Duration Three nights

This short but intensive leadership training programme has been designed to teach effective leadership skills to captains of various sports and other teams across the school. The programme involves the team undertaking several adventurous training activities such as white water rafting on the Pungwe River. These experiences are then used as a metaphor to teach leadership skills.

Teacher Teambuilder Course

Duration Three nights

Are you a team or just a work group? Effective team work takes effort but the rewards are enormous. This short programme is designed to challenge teacher teams to become more effective in their place of work by equipping them with team skills. It is custom made to suit the abilities and needs of each team. It is also a great opportunity for Heads of Departments and other leaders in the school environment to combine planning and strategy sessions with some fun team building activities.

Customised and Specialised Camps

We are aware that each school has its own unique character and ethos. Far and Wide is able to work with your team to develop customized programmes specific to meet the needs of your school. Some of the specialized camps we have run have been Geography camps, Art camps, camps for visiting school teams.

Duke of Edindurgh Awards

Through its association with the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme Far and Wide is able to provide awards for the bronze, silver and gold award in the adventurous journey categories.

IGCSE O Level A Level Geography and Physical Education

Far and Wide offers field studies in aspects of the O and A level syllabus for IGSCE examinations in Geography and Physical Education. Activities include hiking, orienteering, kayaking, and rock climbing.
